About
The Journal of Improvised Medicine (JIM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to advancing innovation in resource-limited, remote, and austere healthcare environments. The journal provides a platform for clinicians, researchers, and educators to share practical solutions, field innovations, and scientific evidence relevant to improvised and adaptive medical practice.
JIM publishes original research, field reports, technical notes, case studies, and reviews that explore novel methods of diagnosis, treatment, and patient support where conventional resources are unavailable. Emphasising scientific rigour, ethical responsibility, and operational realism, the journal bridges the gap between theory and practice for medics, paramedics, nurses, and physicians working in military, expeditionary, humanitarian, and prehospital settings worldwide.
By fostering an international community of practice, JIM seeks to transform necessity into ingenuity - promoting the safe, evidence-based application of improvised medical techniques that save lives when standard care is out of reach.
